This event promises to be an immersive exploration of art, nature, and the human spirit, and we would be honored to have you as our guest.

About the Exhibition

Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council.

Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council (ICCC) presents “Echoes of Alchemy”: an innovative exhibition highlighting the pivotal role various ingredients and craftsmanship methods play within the United Arab Emirate’s topographical and constructed environments.

The word Alchemy was derived from the Arabic word كيمياء or kīmiyā. Alchemy has influenced not only science and imagination, but also literature and art, paving the way for this exhibition’s recipe-based publications, installations and exhibited works.

The exhibition is an ongoing effort to question and uncover ways of making and consuming within the domestic and built realms; highlighting the research and findings of ICCC through a material library of recipes that redefines, reinterprets and reimagines the future of vernacular materials and crafts of the UAE, whilst referencing a locus and its traditional methods of Excavation, Harvest, Preservation, and Craftsmanship – all in direct relation to Gastronomy, Architecture, and Design – a continuing education on the true meaning of sustainability.

Group Size & Age Requirement

In our efforts to provide an intimate experience, each group visiting the gallery will be limited to 20 people, and we’re scheduling visits per hour. We ask that all visitors be aged 15 and above to maintain the serenity of the exhibition. We appreciate your understanding, and while we adore children, this particular event is designed with a more mature audience in mind.
